Materials

At sauna craft we aim to cater for all styles and budgets without compromising on quality.

Internal cladding

  • Aspen

Aspen is a beautiful pale wood grown in Finland. Aspen has been used in Saunas in Finland throughout the ages due to its soft silky nature.

  • Thermo Aspen

Thermally modified Aspen has been heat treated up to temperatures up to 190c. The heat treatment modifies the cell structure in the wood ensuring it is incredibly stable to moisture change and the heat of the Sauna. The treatment process also gives the timber a beautiful caramel color. whilst still ensuring the characteristics of the wood are still present.

Thermo Aspen gives an incredibly luxurious finish to the Sauna with incredible life expectancy.

  • Western Red Cedar

Western Red Cedar is a very soft colourful timber with a strong fragrance. Boards differ greatly from one another giving a multitone affect.

  • Spruce

Probably the most traditional of the cladding options we offer and certainly the most cost affective.

Spruce remains stable in the Sauna environment but is not as soft as the other timbers on offer. Spruce has small knots and defects in comaprison to our other timbers which give an almost flawless finish.
Spruce is a very good internal cladding material when building a financially accessible sauna.

External cladding

  • AA grade Wiltshire larch cladding

Kiln dried larch cladding with a half lap profile. We can machine almost any profile timber should you have your own preference.

  • Stained cladding

We can offer many cladding color options. We use a tint oil rather than a paint ensuring the true nature of the wood prevails through.

  • Rough sawn wayney edge Douglas Fir

A highly durable locally grown timber. For the more rustic wilder style.

Roofing options

  • Western Red cedar shingles

A beautifully natural finish. One of our favorite roofing options. The initial colours are a stunning additional to any building and really help the roof become at one if the sauna is set within a natural surrounding.

  • Standing seam roof

A High quality metal roof. Guaranteed for 50 years. We can supply many different colours of roof.

  • Living roof

We love building living roofs and giving something back, particular when building saunas in small gardens and directly reducing green space.
We can plant these in sedum or wildflower.

  • Slate
